Sunflower Doodles

Another new month, more Doodles over on our EQ Doodles page. We chose a traditional block Sunflower (sometimes known as Triple Sunflower) and remembered that Barbara owns a vintage quilt that features a very close variation of the same block.

The colouring was originally red, green and natural but over the years the green has faded away to a soft beige. Barbara made one block for a teaching sample several years ago –

There’s a colouring sheet to download over on the Doodles page, and a full pattern for the vintage Sunflowers quilt can be found at

All go for a New Year

We’re running somewhat behind schedule in wishing you all a Happy New Year filled with quilting delights, but here we are back in full swing at C&B Towers.  Lots of good things and exciting plans for this year, here’s a quick glimpse of the start –

We’re delighted to report that the Dresden Jelly class on Saturday 21 February is already full with a waiting list – for those of you who have booked your place on this class the all-important Requirements List is now available on our website.

From February to September we’ll be posting a Block of the Month  for a quilt-as-you-go project – start rummaging through your stash now!  A reminder that there’s just time to get caught up with and continue the current Meadowside Block of the Month which you’ll find over at Meadowside Designs. Just click on the tag ‘Block of the Month’ below the posts to get all the blocks.  The requirements were posted on June 3rd.

If you are anxious to get a quilting, fabric and bargain fix this month make a note of the new venue for the popular one day Quilters Fabric Sale – Sandbach High School, Middlewich Road, Sandbach CW11 3NT  this time, more space inside, more parking outside,  Sunday 25 January 10am – 4pm.  We’ll be there along with other demonstrators, exhibitors and traders – it’s always a really good day.

Several of Chris’s quilts will be appearing in UK quilting magazines this year and our “Right from the Start” cover quilt (which Barbara made way back in the mists of time) is on the cover of the current issue of Patchwork & Quilting magazine.  Over the years we’ve had a lot of requests for the instructions for this quilt so we’re very pleased that it has been featured as a project with instructions written by Chris.

We are putting finishing touches to the first batch of a series of quilt patterns which we hope to have available online before too long.  A second series of patterns is well under way too, and a startup list made for a third.  This has kept us very busy in the background of 2014 and it’s something we’re rather excited about – more breathless details to follow.

In addition to our Saturday classes at Tittensor Chris is teaching Block of the Month and Technique of the Month classes at The Corner Patch in Eccleshall and probably a lot more besides.  Barbara will be at The Corner Patch too with some evening and some full day hand stitching classes.

Like many other quilters out there we’re also reviewing our various heaps/stacks/boxes of Works in Progress or Stuff Unfinished – maybe we should set aside some time to get one or two completed… it’s going to be a busy year!
