Organising chaos

Apparently Mercury is in the wrong place, according to the astrologers – which may explain all the technical and cyber woes of the past week throughout the C&B empire. Happily, such woes and misaligned stars did not trouble us on Saturday for our rearranged Freestyle Piecing class and we all had a lot of fun. The requirements list had been remarkably vague and wide ranging – bring orphan blocks, scraps, bits, unfinished blocks…. Our starting point had been Gwen Marston’s books on Liberated Quiltmaking

and we were all prepared. Barbara’s coffee mug was perhaps a telling choice –

and suitable cushions were on chairs to make the day more comfortable

By the time we had run through the demo and issued starter scraps to everyone we finally realised what the subtitle of the class should have been – Organising Chaos! Bags were emptied, scraps selected followed by lots of stitching and snipping and trimming and pressing. We had difficulty imposing a lunch break! So, enjoy the following random shots of chaos being organised and see if you can spot
Chris’s mightily impressive scrap bank which was a great resource to have available during the day

  1. A truly superb day. Haven’t felt that inspired for a while. I’ve just been going through my photos and really enjoyed seeing the amazing variety. As for Chris’ scrap stash – words fail me!
