Chris is spending this week in a faraway place doing grownup things like clearing and cleaning, so Barbara has had sole charge of the mighty C&B empire – such a responsibility!
Last week in our evening class session we did a short demo on basic hand piecing and also the applique stitch, then set homework of a Grandmother’s Fan block. Well done ladies – the results looked really good. Here’s a quick shot of some of the Fan blocks laid out in a block setting
Barbara showed her homework, which was progressing her Chinese Coins strippy project and then went off at a tangent (as she does) and demonstrated how to make cable designs.
And, it goes without saying that it all got too busy to take helpful pictures, but wry comments were heard about YouTube videos and “why don’t you?..”
Finally we got down to the topic for the evening – the bare bones basics of piecing over papers – with help from our camera/projector setup to give everyone a clear view. Homework this week is assembling block sections and next week we will have the excitement of putting these sections together. We are also going to look at the basics of Stained Glass applique – watch this space!
